Bhutan was so surprising. It started as a trip without any expectations only for me to be delighted so much that I am having withdrawals. I find myself looking at photos over and over again, which I never do after a trip.Our experience of the country is through the window opened by Kiran and Nima – our assigned guide and transporter. But really, they were more our companions on a discovery journey, teaching us the history, culture and ways and magic of Bhutan and its people.It was in the everyday gestures, food sharing and ara moments – interactions filled with humour and care that made the travels in Bhutan so special.

They were flexible in accommodating our requests – from an unplanned astrologer visit or to CSI market, to a breathtaking lunch by the river, to helping us take candid shots as memories that will last a lifetime.

We were so well taken care of by them – with the many car rides through the mountains, always sharing the load as we hiked up mountains, and always keeping me warm in the biting cold. Even before leaving, we were talking about our next trip back to Bhutan.On a personal level, the country and the journey with Kiran and Nima have given me so much adventure, peace, clarity and joy.

I can’t stop talking about them to anyone who would listen. You’ll never go wrong if you experience Bhutan with Kiran and Nima. And special shout out to Parbati and team who checked us in for an astounding view of Mount Everest enroute to Paro.

It’s been a trip unlike any other – a big thanks Breathe Bhutan for connecting us, and giving us really authentic experiences at AmaOm’s and Chenco homestays, smaller temples for tree planting and blessings. It simply has been too special.
