What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Breathe Bhutan? Well, this I can say, Kinley Wangchuk and his staff are magical! As I was already in Bangkok I thought…”Why not visit Bhutan” which has been a life long dream. I submitted a request on June 18th wondering if they could organize a trip starting on Sunday June 23rd. I did also email another tour company just in case, but was hoping Breathe Bhutan who was my first choice would come through and they did! I was on a flight to Bhutan on Sunday! They worked within my budget and packed as much as possible into those 4 days. Those action packed days were made possible by our incredible driver Phuntsho who was the most chill and sweetest person. Every time he opened my door he would ask if I was well? Driving those twisty mountain roads takes skill and he was an exceptionally skilled driver. My guide Sonam Tshering was one of the best guides I’ve ever had and I’ve had many in my nearly 50 years of traveling. He was both attentive and able to make things happen last minute. Both were monks, but Sonam was definitely a cheeky monk for sure!
The hike to Tigers Nest was long and tiring. But as it was a childhood dream to see it, Sonam told me he would carry me if needed so I could fulfill that dream. Fortunately for him, no carrying was necessary, except for carrying our snack bag! Words will really never express my gratitude to Kinley, who is one of the coolest guys I’ve met and his team at Breathe Bhutan for making my lifelong dream of visiting Bhutan a reality.
