(Adjacent to the 108 Chortens is a memorial in honor of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck and in commemoration of the hundred years of monarchy in Bhutan. Unlike the ones that usually adorn the other Temple walls, the wall paintings here are very different and has been described as ‘Bhutanese fusion of the 21st and 15th centuries.’ Rather than the conventional religious themes and motifs, the walls of the Lhakhang are embellished by representations of Bhutan in the age of modernity, with paintings such as that of Drukair (the National Airline), the Royal Family, monk with a laptop, and the Fourth King His Majesty Jigme Sengye Wangchuck leading his troops into battle. Another remarkable feature of the Temple would be the perpetually lit, gold butter lamp dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth King Jigme Sengye Wangchuck, for all the sacrifices he made in order to protect our sovereignty and maintain our territorial integrity. )
