A special retreat created in collaboration with Rebecca Penrose of Remember to Breathe and Breathe Bhutan.

There are journeys that show you a place, and there are journeys that allow a place to work on you.

Breathe in Bhutan is a seven-day women’s retreat through the mountains and valleys of Bhutan — combining yoga and meditation with monasteries, village life, nature, ancient rituals and meaningful encounters with the people who call Bhutan home.

This isn’t designed as a sightseeing checklist.

Mornings may begin with yoga overlooking a valley or meditation beside a monastery. Afternoons might take you into a farmhouse, across a suspension bridge, through a forest, or into conversation with monks. And in between, there is space — to walk, breathe, notice and simply be.

More Than a Yoga Retreat

Bhutan provides an extraordinary setting for slowing down.

Prayer flags move with the mountain wind. Monasteries sit quietly above valleys. Forest trails lead to sacred places. Meals become conversations, and encounters with local people become some of the most memorable parts of the journey.

Yoga and meditation provide the thread running through the retreat, but the experience reaches far beyond the yoga mat.

You’ll experience Bhutan through its landscape, spirituality, food, villages, traditions and people.

The programme includes experiences such as Tiger’s Nest Monastery, daily yoga and meditation, a farmhouse lunch and rural activities, Punakha Dzong, forest bathing and tree planting, butter-lamp offerings, time with monks and nuns, archery, village experiences and the creation of a sand mandala.

Your Journey Through Bhutan

Day 1 – Thimphu: Arrive in Paro and travel to the capital. Explore the farmers market and crafts bazaar before an evening meditation.

Day 2 – Thimphu to Punakha: Yoga at Buddha Dordenma, a nature walk, Dochula Pass and cave meditation.

Day 3 – Punakha: Morning yoga, a nature walk and farmhouse lunch, followed by Punakha Dzong and its famous suspension bridge.

Day 4 – Phobjikha & Village Bhutan: Journey into the Phobjikha Valley for yoga, trekking and the Black Crane Centre before continuing for an intimate village encounter and tea with monks.

Day 5 – Sacred & Rural Bhutan: Yoga at a monastery, a cleansing ritual, tree planting, archery and a sand-mandala experience before travelling to Paro.

Day 6 – Tiger’s Nest: Hike to Bhutan’s legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery, followed by a traditional hot-stone bath and farewell dinner with Bhutanese music and dance.

Day 7: A final morning in Bhutan before departure.

Meet Your Retreat Facilitator

Rebecca has practised yoga for more than 35 years and has taught in the USA and Bali, as well as hosted and assisted retreats in Bali, Shanghai and Bhutan.

Her approach is personal rather than performative. She meets participants where they are, combining breath, mindful movement, meditation and practical techniques designed to bring body and mind into balance.

Her teaching brings together traditional yogic wisdom and insights from modern science, making the practice accessible, grounded and relevant to everyday life.

Stay Somewhere With a Story

We have deliberately avoided turning this journey into a sequence of anonymous hotel stays.

Accommodation has been selected for character and sense of place — from boutique hotels to intimate lodges and mountain retreats. The proposed stays include The Pema in Thimphu, Dharma Siddhi in Punakha, Gaselo Lodge and Tiger’s Nest Camp in Paro.

Everything Taken Care Of

From the time you arrive in Bhutan, the practical details are handled for you.

The retreat includes six nights’ accommodation, all scheduled meals, private transport, Bhutanese guides, entrance fees and permits, visa processing, Bhutan’s Sustainable Development Fee, yoga and meditation sessions, and the programmed cultural, spiritual and rural experiences throughout the journey.

International flights, travel insurance, alcoholic beverages, gratuities, personal expenses and activities outside the programme are not included.

Come to Bhutan. Leave With Something More.

You may come for yoga.
You may come for Bhutan.
You may simply feel that it is time to step away from everyday life.

Whatever brings you here, we want you to leave with more than photographs.

A little more stillness.
A few new friendships.
Stories from another part of the world.
And perhaps a different relationship with your own breath, body and pace of life.

Breathe in Bhutan.

A journey for women. A journey inward. A journey through Bhutan.
