(Built in 2008, the Centenary Farmer’s Market is a massive structure spanning over two levels and enclosing about 400 stalls that enable local farmers the opportunity to market their produce. It is part of a government venture to support local agriculture, which is still the primary source of livelihood for a major chunk of the population. The explosion of colours and scents is the biggest and brightest vegetable market in the country. A visit is a great way to get acquainted with the locals and discover the ingredients to the Bhutanese cuisine. 

Across the Kundeyling Baazam (a traditional cantilever footbridge) are clothing stalls and handicraft markets where you can buy ‘antiques’, rolls of prayer flags or even a human thigh-bone trumpet. Bargaining is very much in order; your guide can advise you on the quality of your intended purchase.)
